Just a questions about shopping habits.
Are you a very "product loyal person" or are you more of a bargain shopper?
Are there only certain items that you have to have a certain brand name of (for whatever reason)?
When you go to the store, do you ever buy store brands instead of name brand products, and if so do you find you get the same tastes/results with them?
Just wondering.
Maybe we'll give each other a few tips about certain products and items that we use to help each other save a few bucks.

Trav's hair is almost halfway down his back, SeanPa. He's picky.
I do stay somewhat brand loyal, but I am also quite the bargain shopper. I hate paying full price for anything. I generally will look for coupons or sales on the products I am brand loyal too before trying the store brands, but I have often times found that the store brands are just as good.
Laudry Detergent is one where I pretty much go with what I know works and am willing to pay a couple extra cents for.
Saving money is in my opinion.

Greg - Then you would LOVE Mr. Sluggo!!!
To me bargain shopping is a waste of time unless you find it fun.
An extra hour in the store looking to save a few cents is an hour I am not riding.
Now looking at fresh fish or that latest Asian vegetable is different.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Last time I visited my parents, they took me (food) shopping with them one day. I had never had such a day of unmitigated boredom in my life. They went to one store that had broccoli at 10 cents a pound less than the other stores, got 3 pounds of broccoli, then drove 10 miles to another store that had bananas at 10 cents a pound less than other stores and got 5 pounds of bananas. And so on. We spent four hours grocery shopping, I think my mom saved 3 or 4 dollars, and they must have put a hundred miles on the car.Originally posted by travelinman:

Like Hell on earth, only more boring.
Did you point out to them that they actually LOST money? Mr. Sluggo doesn't do that but he is a "coupon freak". His greatest joy is when the store has it's "triple" and "double" coupon weekend.
Now, I also kinda do it Travs way too. I atuaslly like going over to check out /look for nicer cuts of meat (havent brought any fresh fish home to cook in a while). But I sitll look for a deal. As far as veggies, I dont stray too far from the usual (since I normally cook for just myself) by I do at least try to get a little bit creative with them. Tough to get too exotic when you are just cooking for yoursefl and you have limited storage space (as far as freezer space is concerned.

Why am I thinking that a road trip to Jungle Jims might be in order for this board?
Back when my children were young and we were poorer than church mice, I did the coupon thing and the multiple store thing. Unlike AL's parents, though, the two stores were less than a mile apart.
I got the flyers, planned meals around the loss leaders and ended up saving quite a bit of money.
And, I'll confess that back in that day, if the Sunday paper was heavily laden with coupons, I'd buy two.
